Tony & Family

January 1st, 2008 by tunahunter

Tony, Anthony, Michael spent a day tuna fishing aboard Tuna Hunter Fishing Charters. Well, tuna and striped bass fishing. The morning yielded a great tuna hit, and Dad was content to continue to troll. rough seas forced us back inside, where the striped bass action was worthy.
It is always great ot see a family fishing together- we look forward to seeing these guys again throughout the season.

Kite Fishing Aboard Tuna Hunter Fishing Charters

January 1st, 2008 by tunahunter

Tuna Hunter tuna charters enjoyed a treat this past season - Kite fishing for bluefin tuna.

We will do more kite fishing for bluefin tuna in the 2008 season, targeting tuna of all sizes.

Fish the Kite ~ It’s a hell of a bite!

We expect the same bluefin tuna year class to be in the Gloucester, MA fishing area again, a whole year bigger and beefier, but still in a great size range for stand-up angling.

Dave & Dave Annual Fishing Retreat

July 8th, 2007 by tunahunter

Daves Rubin and Haskell, fathers and sons, spend a weekend cod & haddock fishing aboard Tuna Hunter Fishing Charters each year. What a way to spend a weekend: reeling in cod, haddock and wolffish, a swim at the pool back at the marina, and fine dining a LobstaLand, repeat.

Many thanks to these guys for loosening up Captain Gary - a feat no other charter guests have managed so smoothly and thoroughly. Come back more often!

Tuna Fishing … by Dali

May 3rd, 2007 by tunahunter

We at Tuna Hunter for on fishing - what are the weather and sea conditions, what is the bait situation, what is the best species to target on a given day, etc.

Other in the world apparently have a different focus, and a different perspective, of “tuna fishing”, for example, as evidenced by this painting entitled “Tuna Fishing” by Dali:

Tuna Fishing
Salvador Dalí, 1966-67
Oil on canvas
304 × 404 cm, 119.65 × 159.06 inches
Foundation Paul Ricard, Ile de Bandol

Tuna Fishing (Homage to Meissonier) was painted by Salvador Dalí in 1966-1967 and is seen by many as one of Dalí’s last masterpieces. Filled chaotically with the violent struggle of the men in the picture and the big fish. A golden knife stabs into the fish and the azure- blue sea becomes red with blood.

This painting is a dedication to Jean Louis Ernest Meissonier, a 19th century French painter who specialised in battle scenes.

This picture sees Dalí absorb different styles which he previously explored, such as Surrealism, Pointillism, Action Painting, Tachisme, Pop Art, Op Art and psychedelic art.
